From Despair to Rescue: The Everyday Life of the Animal Welfare Association

Every day, at the Association, we are faced with incidents that test our humanity: from abandoned horses to the desperate need for veterinary care. In the article that follows, we describe our most recent actions — organized, substantial and continuous.

1. ✅ Sudden death of owner - horse in a Roma camp

A horse was found abandoned and neglected two days after the sudden death of its owner in the Roma camp near Arfara. The Association immediately mobilized: it located the animal, organized its rescue and undertook its transport for treatment.

2. 🛡️ Removal of three horses following a prosecutor's order

Shortly afterwards, the Nafplio Prosecutor's Office ordered the immediate removal three horses from the same camp in Nea Kios, following complaints. The Association responded, organized their transport and arranged for their accommodation in suitable facilities.

3. 🚨 Citizens' appeal for contracted veterinary care assistance

At the same time, citizens made an urgent appeal to the Association, requesting specialized veterinary care for injured or sick animals found in the area. The Association highlighted the need to ensure a permanent network of veterinary support.

4. 🛑 Resignation from the Five-Member Committee – new direction of action

Earlier than the above, the Association announced the resignation by the Municipality's Five-Member Stray Management Committee. The decision was made because a lack of dynamics and cooperation was found - leading the Association to choose independent actions aimed at faster and more targeted help to animals.
