Workshop on Animal Protection and Rights with the participation of the Cultural Animal Welfare Association of Tripoli. Good practices and the importance of cooperation with the Police against abuse were highlighted.
On May 23, 2025, the Cultural Animal Welfare Association of Tripoli actively participated in the conference organized by the General Regional Police Directorate of Peloponnese on the topic:
"National Action Plan for the Protection – Animal Rights".
The event took place in Tripoli and aimed to inform and raise awareness among police personnel and competent bodies on issues related to animal abuse and neglect, as well as the proper implementation of the legal framework for their protection.

Our Association was represented by its President, Mr. Georgios Zafirakis, who had the opportunity to present the association's experience and actions in collaboration with the Police, highlighting the positive examples as well as the challenges faced in practice.
In his speech, the President stated:
"The Tripoli Cultural and Animal Welfare Association, through a review of the history of incidents of cooperation between the Police and our association, highlighted good practices, identified weaknesses and assessed our overall joint action.
Abuse and delinquency are dealt with with complete success by the Police authorities with the assistance of organizations, associations, and volunteers of local communities.
The Police have both the means and the know-how to implement the Law.
"But silence and indifference are enemies of Justice and promote impunity."
The conference included presentations from:
Mrs. Sofia Stamatopoulou, Veterinarian and Head of the Veterinary Department of the Peloponnese Regional State, analyzed the responsibilities of the Veterinary Service in animal protection.
Mr. Panagiotis Hasapis, Lawyer and member of the Board of Directors of the Tripoli Bar Association, presented the legal framework governing animal rights.
Mr. Demosthenes Katsiavara, Commander of the Tripoli Police Department, referred to the procedures followed by the Greek Police to deal with incidents of animal abuse.

A discussion and exchange of views followed, with a shared belief that the cooperation of all parties involved is the key to effective animal protection.
The presence and voice of the Cultural Animal Welfare Association of Tripoli in such initiatives demonstrates that cooperation between Authorities, organizations and citizens is the most powerful weapon for a world with more respect and less violence towards animals.
As an association, we are committed to continuing to support such initiatives and to actively contribute to the formation of a society with respect for all forms of life.
